Pro:I had a credit score of 512 CK. I got approved for $500 and it has gone up to $1500 after one year. My credit score is now 630. Make sure you keep ure balance under 30% usage. i.e. my limit is $1500 so i keep my balance under $450. That is what's building my credit.

Con:Always pay on time b/c the fee is $40 and intrest kicks in after your first year.

After I got my secured card, I was 'preapproved' for this card.  I got it and my initial limit was $300.  Then it went up to $700 after like 5 months of full time paying it all off. Then 5 months later it went up to $2250 after paying it in full.  Now it's at $4250.  Not bad.  Just kept on making payements and they kept on increasing my balance.  No rewards though...and the few rewards they offer sometimes are too specific to really mean anything.  I like the fraud protection though.

I have had terrible credit resulting from a layoff over 4 years ago. Credit Karma reccommended this card for me, with only a 572 credit score, and I decided why not try it. I was approved on the spot with  a $300 credit limit that will increase after 5 months of on time payments. I was truly shocked that I was approved. Im going to take this card and start improving my credit!

I usually don't write reviews for products or services, but I really have to give it to Capital One for giving me another chance to help with improving my credit. I have had this card for about 6 months now and have been extremely happy with it. I started with a 300 dollar CL but just recently got an increase to 3,300 dollars! Which was a huge surprise since I was only expecting a 200 dollar increase. I have been paying this card off in full every month and will continue to do so. I also applied and got accepted for their Quicksilver credit card which gives you 1.5% back on every purchase,I have been very happy with that card as well and hopefully I get a CL increase for that account in about 6 months as well.

Thank you Capital One for giving someone with a jacked up credit history a second chance. You guys Rock!!!

I applied for this card in September 2014 because CK told me I had a “FAIR” chance of getting approved. I figured those were NOT good odds but I’d give it a shot. My CK score was 574 at the time with numerous collections (from when I was out of work for 2 years). It said I’d have an answer within 60 seconds. I was denied, it told me I’d receive a letter in the mail explaining their decision. I didn’t need a letter because I knew it was because my credit is far from good. About a week later I got a letter from them with a card inside congratulating me on being approved for a $300 CL. I couldn’t believe it!! So if you get a denial online, it doesn’t mean you’re really denied all the time, it probably means they have to look more closely into your credit history.

After another week CK told me I had a “FAIR” chance to get approved for the Capital One Quick Silver card with a 1.5% cash back option, I thought what the heck. I was approved on the spot for $300 CL. I’m currently on the credit steps program on both cards and am hoping for a large increase after my 6 months of exceptional payment history. There are been numerous different reviews stating different times that you’ll get an increase so I’m not really sure when they really do increases but I’ll be happy regardless. I’d love to see other peoples timelines for increases and what your score was when the increase was issued.

In closing, if you’re looking to rebuild your credit I’d highly recommend applying for this card, take a chance. It’s worth the 1 hard pull you’re going to get.

I got this card about 5 months ago, it has a $39 yearly fee but when I got this card I only had a 560 credit score, here 5 months later I have a 636 score and I am getting credit out the but, I even am getting the major cards now, if you use this card use it sparingly, and pay slightly more than your minimum payment, say your minimum is $25 you pay $33 or $34 and watch your score go up up up, I went through bad credit twice in my life, once for a divorce and once for severe medical problems, and this past time I had to deal with 5 years with no credit, now I am going to use this chance to do it right and not blow it.. thank you Capital One, for giving me another chance
