Pro:I had a credit score of 512 CK. I got approved for $500 and it has gone up to $1500 after one year. My credit score is now 630. Make sure you keep ure balance under 30% usage. i.e. my limit is $1500 so i keep my balance under $450. That is what's building my credit.

Con:Always pay on time b/c the fee is $40 and intrest kicks in after your first year.

I decided to apply for this card on a whim even though CK says I had poor odds. Applied with a 578 CK score and was instantly approved for a $300 limit. Applied Saturday, got an email my card was in the mail Monday and received it yesterday (Thursday)  I didnt see anything about a credit steps program though. I will keep yall posted.

I am in the rebuilding process after going crazy in college (just graduated and got my first job a week after graduation) so I am thankful Capital One took a chance on me.

My credit score was not "great". It is reported at 620. I used the First Premier and Credit One bank cards (with a $300 credit limit) for a year. I did not miss any payments but i was utilizing about 80% of my credit limit. I decided I needed additional accounts to show good payment history. I applied for Capital One and was given a $2000 credit limit with one year of 0% APR (which increases to 18% after a year). As long as payments are made ontime, and you do not go over your credit limit, there are no issues. I have never had an issue with ANY Credit Card when I make my payments ontime.

I noticed that a lot of criticism has been about Capital One not giving a lot of credit limit increases, so I thought I would share my experience which has been a bit different. When I applied for this card two years ago, my credit score was around 600 with a lot of negative indicators on my credit report.  I was approved for $500, which I was grateful for since my credit wasn't the best. Six months later, it was bumped to $750 without my initiation, which was a nice surprise.

About a year later (six months ago) I had gone from a part-time to a full-time position, raising my salary up quite a bit (about $36k, not great but more than what I was making when I applied). Some negative indicators had also fallen off of my report, bringing my score to about 660-670. I asked for an increase online (filled out a short online form), and was approved for $2,250. Then just last month, I noticed that the limit went up to $3,750, and this was again without my initiation.  I was pretty happy with this as it brings down my utilization, helping my credit score a bit more.

In a few more months more negative indicators should fall off of my report, so I'm curious to see if this changes anything.  I'm not sure why my credit limit increases have been more fruitful than others in my situation, but I thought I'd share my experience to show that it is totally possible to get increases on your account.

Just fyi; I tend to use my card often for big purchases, and I do leave a bit on my card (so I do pay some interest).  For example, I recently went to Las Vegas and booked the room on my card.  I didn't pay the whole thing off, but I did pay a big chunk of it ($500 out of $700).  I don't know if this contributes to my increases, but it does show them that I use my card for big purchases and I pay off a good amount, but they are still making some money off of me with interest.  It might be something to consider.

I got approved quickly and got my card in less than a week.  Great card for building credit.  0% APR for 15 months, which is great compared to secured cards.  Looking forward to growing my credit worthiness.  It feels great to feel like someone is giving me a chance to rectify old bad decisions/habits.
