According to Credit Karma I have fair credit, however for this card it states you have to have excellent credit. Needless to say, I joined credit Karma yesterday 11/20/13 and obtained my credit score (672), reviewed my credit card recommendations (Chase freedom TOP RANK, CapOne Quicksilver 1ST RUNNER UP, and I can't remember the last one). I went with CapOne because I liked their 1.5% over Chase's 1% with rotating categories that I may never utilize. Needless to say, I was approved with FAIR credit for $5000.00 with 20.9% APR, which is high....however, I plan on using my card like I would my debit card to pay bills I know I have the money for and then turning around and paying it off at the due date to avoid paying interest and to improve my credit and get better offers. Will keep you all posted on customer service, cash reward redemption, etc. once I receive and have a chance to use my card!!! Thanks Capital One and thank you credit Karma!

I applied for this card through a mail in offer. I applied online and I was approved with a CL of 1,000. I was happy with the CL amount. I love the rewards system. It is the best. Between Capital One and American Express, I must say Capital One has the best rewards system ever. A piece of advice from me, Capital One is the easiest cards to apply for; if you are working on your credit. =)

I like the quicksilver card for the 1.5% cash back. However, the customer service is terrible. I traveled to Vegas and called them a few days before to make sure they would not decline my card. I was told I don't need to report travel within the 50 states. When I got to Vegas my card was declined when paying for my hotel.

This happened on 10/17. I called Capital One and they told me I could not use my card anymore. They told me they canceled my card on 10/16 and sent me a new one in the mail because of the Home Depot breach. They told me it should arrive in a few business days around 10/21. I appreciate they take security seriously and sent me a new card. However, they should not cancel my current card before my new card even arrives in the mail. No matter how upset I got, they could not help me on the phone.

Later that night, I checked my email. There was an automatic email from Capital One that said there was suspicious activity on my account. It asked me if I should allow the new charges. I clicked yes. I was then able to use my card again.

My conclusion is that the customer service people (even the manager that it was escalated to) don't know what they are talking about. They did not cancel my card like they said they did. All I had to do was click on the email link. They caused me too much unnecessary stress.

My credit was in the dumper in September of 2013 I was a low 600 the only card I was offered was Capital One's platinum card. They gave me a $3000 limit I believe then after 6 months bumped me up 500 bucks. Fast forward to yesterday I have been getting mail nonstop to apply for their quicksilver card. I never did because I have enough cards. I open the mail yesterday and got automatically upgraded to this card, smart move on capital ones part. I buy gas on my credit card monthly for the rewards. My discover card is only 1% cash back on that right now. Looks like I'll be moving to the capital one card for gas

Capital One sent me an offer in the mail for the Quicksilver card. After checking the features and benefits, I enrolled, got approved within a week and got my Quicksilver within 2 weeks with $3000 limit (TransUnion 739; Experian 723). I really like the free credit score I get from TransUnion every month with this card and I love the benefits and the 1.5% instant cash back.
I've had the Quicksilver for 2 weeks, spent $1800 in the new card and already got $24 cask back, before my first statement. I've quit using my AMEX Blue Sky (I can get 1.4% max cash back from traveling and max 1% cash back on all other purchases), which I get once the billing statement is available once a month. Plus I need to get points with AMEX and I cannot really use all points, because the cask back comes in denominations of $25 or $50 depending on the points that I have. For instance, I currently have 9.338 points on my AMEX.

The direct cash back option gives only $50 (two $75 denominations) for 7,000 Blue Sky Points (ridiculous 0.71% cash back)The travel redeeming option shows: With 9,338 points, you can receive up to $100 in savings.

This means that I can redeem an eligible travel purchase (air ticket, car rental etc.) of $100 or more to get back $100, which will cost me 7,500 points (this is 1.333% cash back). See what I mean? Why even use AMEX? Quicksilver gives me 1.5% cash back on everything, whenever I want and I get all the cash back, not these silly limits of $25 denominations once a month! Ok, my AMEX limit is $7,500 (versus $3,000 with Quicksilver), but I am a brand new user. I believe Capital One will double my credit limit within 3 or 6 months. Besides, I still use my Platinum Rewards MasterCard from my Credit Union which I've had for 4 years, because I get 2% cash back on groceries and 3% on gas.

Bottom line: my advice to y'all is to check the cash back programs the various cards offer. You may wanna get a card first to experience how friendly and comfortable you are with the online banking websites and customer service. I haven't had any customer service issues, with AMEX, Capital One or MasterCard; they were all great, polite and helpful. Yet, I find the Capital One website the most user-friendly compared to AMEX and MasterCard.

I have settled now with MasterCard for groceries and gas and Quicksilver on everything else and I love my Quicksilver!
