According to Credit Karma I have fair credit, however for this card it states you have to have excellent credit. Needless to say, I joined credit Karma yesterday 11/20/13 and obtained my credit score (672), reviewed my credit card recommendations (Chase freedom TOP RANK, CapOne Quicksilver 1ST RUNNER UP, and I can't remember the last one). I went with CapOne because I liked their 1.5% over Chase's 1% with rotating categories that I may never utilize. Needless to say, I was approved with FAIR credit for $5000.00 with 20.9% APR, which is high....however, I plan on using my card like I would my debit card to pay bills I know I have the money for and then turning around and paying it off at the due date to avoid paying interest and to improve my credit and get better offers. Will keep you all posted on customer service, cash reward redemption, etc. once I receive and have a chance to use my card!!! Thanks Capital One and thank you credit Karma!

LOVING this card so far! Rewards are easy to gain, and the online system is helpful with managing the account. I have one account with cap1 already for over 9 months. Credit karma reported that I have a poor chance of approval for the card. They suggested the quicksilverone with very good approval odds.  I received an “exclusive pre-approved” offer in the mail. I waited until the last day before the offer was to expire and applied. Yay!! Approved with a $1000 cl.

Background info: I did not check my true FICO scores before applying. CK reported 639, while Credit Sesame reported 681. Not a very long credit history, only three other credit accounts (1 being a 300 cl secured card, ugh!). I keep low utilization on all cards, and have a 3% dti ratio. Only 4 hard pulls on credit report. Also before applying I had disputed several items on my credit report, and had at least 9 items deleted (random medical bills) I have two closed accounts from 5+ years ago.

I took a risk with applying for the card; I would not have applied without a pre-approved offer. But glad that I did! So good so far!

Nothing stands out about this card. Capital One does not honor the $100 bonus saying that my card is eligible (I saw the signup bonus on website when I filled in my application). Customer service is completely useless, after waiting on the phone for so long.

Originally had Classic Platinum was able to upgrade to Quicksilver Mastercard within 8 or 9 months of original opening of account. They kept credit limit the same, which is $3500, but doesn't bother me. Just happy to be part of the Quicksilver family.

My experiance with Capitol One goes back about 15 years. I have excellent credit, my opening limit was $15,500 and I loved my Capitol One card until hurricane Katrina.  Those in the area that were effected were allowed to be late on payment with out late charges.  I was 4 days late. All was well until about three months later I receive an letter stating that I had been 1-7 days late, twice within the last three years and as a result my interest rate was going up in the 30% range. When I called and explained that these "late payments" were exempt and I sould not be penalised for them, the rep was friendly and understood exacty what I was saying. However, they did not have the authority to "fix" the problem.  Neither did the next 6 layers of "supervisors" I spoke with. Finally after three days the eighth layer of management was able to resolve the problem and put the card at the correct APR. I went about 10 years rarely if ever using the card. 

When Quick Silver came out I switched my existing Capitol One card to the Quick Silver and requested a credit limit increase. The increase was denied and the best explanation could get was that for over the last 3 years I took advantage of two, 12 month, 0% APR transfer offer and I should not have used the full 12 months to pay it off? Yeah, that makes perfect since.

If you do business with Capitol one be sure to use them as a charge card.  If you use them as a credit card, you will be disappointed sooner or later.

Describe what happened so we can understand the issue... 

I received an offer in the mail from Capital One, for the Quicksilver card, which I applied to, it said "access to a higher credit line after you make your first 5 monthly payments on time". I applied in April, it is now September. The first time I called in regards to how much and when the increase will happen the representative said he didn't see anything about it, he waited 10 minutes for me to find the application and I recited it to him. He still knew nothing of it and asked if I wanted them to pull my credit so they can see if I'm eligible for an increase, no. I called a week or so later and the lady seemed to know what I was talking about this time she said I should receive it the latest by September. Then I call today September 8th and spoke to another guy that knew nothing of what I was speaking about. He put me on a long hold and said I'll be receiving a letter in the mail letting me know if I'm eligible for an increase because he pulled my credit. I didn't ask him to do that! I asked to speak with a supervisor. I finally received someone on the line from America but she was plain rude. It was Lisa from the Virginia office, Id # WXW728. I explained what happened each time I called because she said the agents do not memo the account!!! Only supervisors can! That is the most horrible thing I've heard, so basically every time I call, that's why everyone is confused and has no idea of the ordeal I went through with the previous person. She then asked why I called so many times?! I was furious she asked me that, in a rude manner as well. I told her because I kept getting incorrect information every time I call, it's a different answer. I couldn't believe she asked me that. I told her this was customer service and I should be able to call as many times as I want. I asked to speak with her supervisor or manager and she said that she doesn't take calls. She told me I will receive the increase in November. I'm not even upset the increase will take so long. I am upset nobody knows what is going on with your account over there, each person I spoke with should have known about my offer so it would not have had to go to a supervisor in the first place. And even when it did get escalated the supervisor should have not had an attitude that I was looking for her customer service assistance.
