I applied back in March and was denied due to not having another CC with a similar credit limit of the $5000 minimum on the Sapphire Preferred. Back then my FICOs were EQ704 and TU709. After 6 months of working on my credit and getting new cards with larger limits, and getting increases on current cards, I applied last week and was approved!! I was approved with FICOs of EX715, EQ729. My AAoA is 3+ years, utilization of 1%, and my other CLs were $4250, $4000 and 2 $1250. They instantly approved me for $5000! Called the regular customer service number and had them overnight it to me for Friday because I wanted to book a trip. It didn't end up arriving. Ended up calling the Sapphire specific line and had them overnight it to me for Monday. I did receive it Monday but not at my business address as I had requested. O well, atleast it wasn't stolen out of my mail box(I live on a busy street)

So far I love it. It's a beautiful card, and has some heft to it. I've already received many compliments on it. The 40,000 bonus points(after spending $3k) surely doesn't hurt as I have already almost reached $2k spending on it.

Booking flights through Ultimate Rewards mall isn't cheaper in my experience. It does give you 3 points/dollar. But you can book through another travel website via a link on the site, and it will give you 4points/dollar, and its cheaper.

This card gives you 2 points/dollar when spent on travel(including taxis and tolls), 7% dividend on points earned in the year, no forex fees. Also if you have the Chase Trifecta(a chase checking account and the Freedom cards) the rewards really start adding up!

I've used this card for about 6 months and have had excellent service. I like that when I call, I don't have to fumble through a bunch of menus. I have yet to be transferred to a foreign country, which is also plus.

Today I called for a credit line increase from 6k to 10k. Credit score in the low 700's across the 3 bureaus. Household income $149k, most of which is earned by my spouse as I am disabled. I do not carry a balance on my credit cards. I was initially denied. I called the reconsideration line to get more information. The representative explained that I had a single but significant blemish on my credit report from 6 years ago and she asked me why it had occurred. I explained that was the year that I had an aneurysm. She asked how much access I have to my spouse's income, I laughed and told her all of it since it is deposited into a joint account. She put me on hold for a few minutes, then came back with an approval.

All of the representatives I have dealt with have been pleasant and knowledgeable. I would certainly recommend this card.

I have been a member since 2012. I initially had given some rave reviews about this card. But after using it for a few years, I have realized that this is not the best cards in the market. For $95 of annual fee, this is not worth it if you are not travelling around for atleast worth $5000 per year. Whether its in travel/Dining. The most riduculous thing is that this card doesn't cover gas, when it is a travel card. The only thing I'm satisfied with this card is the FX rate at which Chase gives when doing foreign transactions.

If you are making your travel booking through Ultimate rewards and if one has to post-pone the trip, this is a pain in the ***. you will have to pay a heafty amount to cancel/postpone and about $200 for each itinerary.

Now that chase has taken out the 7% dividend yield. It even makes worst.

Please note that, for anyone who is travelling/car rentals/hotels/dining often, this is a useful card. But for me, I used to travel a lot, but for now, my spending levels have gone down and this card is of no use.

I was charged with a finance charge for paying the monthly bill, late by one business day, the customer care rep doesn't even has the curtosy to reverse the charge off. (I have once called up Amex for a similar instance and they did reverse the charge).

But for me, after using this card for 2 years, I'm starting to look at Amex and card services.

Chase is a great bank with great customer service. When you call the number, you are IMMEDIATELY connected with a human. There is no automated system at all! They kept all of their promises with signing bonuses, cash back, etc.
